Deborah the Brave team visited the Ulpan Etzion Olim Absorption Center on their recent tour to Israel. A group of 26 women from the United States joined together with individuals who are making Aliyah to Israel for a reception and learning time for all. Aliyah is the Hebrew word used when a Jewish person immigrates to Israel. The New Olim Absorption Center is designed to assist the olim, those individuals who have made aliyah. The Center's goal is to help olim integrate into Israili society, with the primary focus on learning the language of the land, Hebrew. Students spend 5 hours a day, 5 days a week learning Hebrew. Deborah the Brave was able to purchase new computers for the Hebrew language school which had outdated computers and were in need of updated systems to learn modern Hebrew so new immigrants can be equipped to enter the Israeli job market and assimilate successfully into Israeli society. These brave new immigrants are largely single and come to Israel as Zionists without family or friends just because they believe in the Jewish way of life and to support their ancient homeland. They truly are modern day heroes, many leave lucrative jobs all over the world to start over as Israeli citizens. We were proud to furnish their computer room with the tools and technology they need.
