ACWI has embarked on a unique opportunity to become planted in our commitment to, and participation in, the covenant of Abraham, Isaac and Israel. The Bible foretold of the transformation of the land of Israel in the hands the Jewish people in Isaiah 35. This prophecy has been coming true for the past 70 years.

In this project, Planting in the Holy Land, you will not only plant a tree that produces fruit for new immigrants to eat but you will also become part of helping a Jewish person to make Aliyah (immigrate to Israel) to the Land God promised them. It will be a beautiful way to plant a tree, plant a Jewish person and become planted symbolically as part of the rich root of Israel.

“The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the  desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing.”

Isaiah 35:1

$1,000 FOR ONE TREE?

It’s so much more than a tree…It’s a new life for families.

The fruit tree is symbolic of planting your roots in the Holy Land at a cost of $200, including preparation of the soil, irrigation system, water, and the tree itself. The remaining $800 helps cover a portion of the cost for one Jewish person to immigrate to Israel and live for six months in one of Israel’s 34 welcoming, comfortable “absorption centers” where they are provided with an apartment, Hebrew classes, vocational training, job placement, cultural activities, social services and more, implemented by a caring staff members committed to their smooth transition to Israeli culture.

About the Project

The trees will be planted at The Jewish Agency’s Nurit Absorption Center in the desert town of Be’er Sheva named after the seven wells dug there by Abraham. Nurit was established in 1989 and continues to house new Jewish immigrants from all over the world. They arrive directly from the airport and stay until they move into permanent homes in the community. The absorption center’s goal is to prepare them for independent living and to become successful and well-integrated Israelis.

Today, many of the immigrants, both children and adults, express a strong longing to work the land and a desire for the enjoyment of its harvests. In view of this, we feel it’s extremely important and fitting to plant a grove of trees for the immigrants on the land belonging to The Jewish Agency for Israel within the property lines of the absorption center. This will enable the residents of the center to reconnect to the land, enjoy its greenery, and eat the fruit of its trees.
